Warm Diamond Nov 24, 2008
By M. Cuningham Strangers and Angels is incredibly deep and thoughtful and bright, gracious in its grief and joy, provocative in its quiet and its power, so minimal and yet so richly measured, like a warm diamond that has endured a lifetime of cutting and polishing and loving into its final perfect facets and reflections.
There is so much music on the pages that I find myself reading out loud to hear it with my ears as well as in my head. The juxtapositions and paradoxes that weave through the poems are like thematic threads pulling each other in tension, yet holding each other in a sort of energetic balance, as though psychologically at peace but not at rest.
Highly recommended.
