Memories Aug 07, 2009
It was good to a point. The author had many good story lines, but didn't choose one and stick with it. No character development. Was very stilted and needed to finish this one before the new one. Too many loose ends. When the next book was introduced in the pages of this book; I felt I was being marketed to as opposed to reading and enjoying this one. Many typos. Needed better editing. Too bad. Ideas were there but too many for one story.

A Tale of 4 Sisters Feb 21, 2009
By Mary E. Barinaga
"Mary"
Joan Gable's novel Summer of Firefly Memories is a thought-provoking, fun, believable story about 4 sisters attempting to bond after family dysfunction and tragedy has pulled them apart over several years. This book has great character development and is full of plot twists/turns. I'm happy to know that this is the first book in a series, as I'll definately be watching for the next novel by Joan Gable.

Touching, Heartwarming and Beautiful Feb 20, 2009
By Corey J. Perrella Once I started reading I did not want to stop, but I forced myself not to devour it in one huge gulp and make it last longer. This is a beautiful story of the deep and sometimes very complex relationships among family members and really women in general. The characters are rich and well defined and propel the story forward of their own inertia. I kind of wished it was from first person perspective, alternating among the characters because I really wanted to know more about them! The author is reminiscent of Kris Radish, but without the emotionally manipulative drivel. You will laugh out loud and cry throughout this book, but it will be purely from how much you can relate to the characters and their journey.
Joan Gable has a fresh voice that grabs your heart and mind and doesn't let go. I will be buying a copy of this book for each of the important women in my life!
