Taking Tea with The Buddha: The Gift of Practice

In this concise, carefully constructed and clearly written book, Bradly Jay Keller leads the reader on a journey of discovery on the path of Buddhism. The distinction between the map and the territory is useful here. The author, as our tour guide, takes us on the actual terrain of the meditation practice, in the Zen tradition of Mahayana Buddhism. But he makes judicious use of historical and philosophical maps of Zen Buddhism, and other schools of Buddhism, Western psychology and Hinduism too. He presents theory in the context of the practice of meditation--both sitting meditation and incorporating meditation in one's daily activity. 5Spiritual Practice  Dec 23, 2008
By Joshu
I read with keen interest Taking Tea with The Buddha: The Gift of Practice and gained both knowledge and insight. The author's compelling use of prose and poetry is unique. It is obvious the author has dedicated his spiritual life to the pursuit of the Way.

The author's love of the spiritual path shines through the book like the moon illuminating a mountain path taken at night. Walking past a mirror lake, the reflection of the moon follows one and guides the way. The goal of walking on this path does not seem too far away with such a guide.

I recommend this book for anyone that feels the longing for spiritual awakening. This book will resonate with one's spiritual core and be a source of inspiration.

5Great read  Oct 17, 2009
By Heather A. Mullholland
This book is well written and is available to readers of many backgrounds. With an emphasis on sitting meditation, the author relates spirituality and life. The subject matter can be both complex and easy to read. Truly enjoyable.

5A delightful read  Mar 24, 2010
By Peter Strong
This is a well written book that conveys aspects of the subtle flavor of mindfulness meditation or "sitting." The art of the path of mindfulness meditation is all in the detail and depth of understanding at the experiential level and this book provides another flavor that is much appreciated. I also recommend my book "The Path of Mindfulness Meditation" for the tea party!
