Taylorwood

We all think we lead boring lives until something happens to make us realize that boring is a good thing. Alex finds herself going from being just one of the teachers at Taylorwood School for Girls to the subject of admiration by a dangerous someone whom she would rather have vanish from the planet altogether. This coincides with Alex realizing that she needs to rethink her relationship, which she thought would last forever.

5Leaves you wanting to know where the next book will lead  Jun 05, 2009
By Cindy S. Culbert "C.S.C."
I was introduced to G.L. McCarthy's "Taylorwood" by a friend. And I have never been so pleased with a recommendation. From the introduction of characters till the "Hanging on the edge" ending, a well written book. I also read Thunder Mountain Ranch and waiting for the third installment to come out. I know it will be another exciting, well written, book I won't want to put down till the end.

Thank you G.L. McCarthy !!

4Fun read  Apr 12, 2008
By Christine Logan "Christine Logan, MFT"
Written in an enticing way so that I couldn't put it down. Amazing for a first time writer. There are few good lesbian authors out there and this is one of our new ones. Look forward to her next book.

4Taylorwood  Jan 29, 2008
By H. Marcel "Marcelo Ye"
Taylorwood, G.L. McCarthy. CA: Booksurge, 2007, 228 pp.

In the solemnly, small lesbian world of Taylorwood, romance is as scarce as the possibility of falling in love for the first time, or again, and as tricky to understand as staying awake during an act of denial re one's current relationship.

Through lighthearted and pragmatic sequel of events, McCarthy etches a strong and thoughtful story of women whose relationships suggest the problem of finding answers, real possibilities of lesbian love or new sparks of desire, mark a point of looking at one's self.

In the story Alex realizes she been in a relationship too long and for the wrong reasons. Most readers can relate to that story or with Cynthia, scorned and stumbling over possibilities of everlasting love with her new best friend, Alex. Some dreams never come true.

After Alex's convincing self-loathing come new approaches, strength, civility and forgiveness, hope and new possibilities of real love on the horizon. With a cause for courage, the book is thoughtful, full of emotions, sometimes wry and diverse, but always entertaining. It's well worth the read.

4Two camps - Love it or Hate it.  Feb 11, 2009
By G. L. McCarthy
As the author of this book I've received a lot of feedback from people on how they did or didn't like my book. So what have I found you ask? That those who can relate to the main character Alex really like the book. Those who relate to her girlfriend Dez don't. So what is Alex like - thoughtful, considerate, loving, giving, etc. What is Dez like - self-absorbed, controlling, workaholic, etc. Therefore you can see why those of you who identify with the girlfriend aren't so quick to give good marks. Now both camps say the mystery is very good and the men who have read it and don't understand women anyway say they love it for the mystery. So if you don't have a chip on your shoulder or a controlling death grip on your money then give my book a read, but if not - then you may want to do some more shopping. I gave the book 4 stars because 90% of the people I've heard back from liked the book. Thanks, G. L. McCarthy

5An Amazing Debut...  Sep 18, 2007
By Stevie Oz "Mystery Lover"
What an exciting and fun read! I read it in one sitting. I literally could not put it down. It is a real page-turner complete with romance, suspense, and humor. The characters are so real, it almost seems like you are reading about the experiences of friends and people you know. The best part is that the mystery is not solved until the very end, and even then some questions still linger. Perhaps a sequel?
