Absolutely Hilarious Oct 17, 2004
By Katie, aka Pop Culture Freak Okay, technically I haven't "read" this book, but I've had several chapters read to me by my Creative Writing teacher in class, and more often than not, I'm rolling with laughter while it's being read. While the book is based on Weibye's retired life "in the hills", many of the characters are composites of different people he knows. As my teacher has said several times, Weibye takes "the commonplace" and makes it funnier than you ever thought it could be. A must for anyone, especially if you live in Arkansas, haha.
A Great Find Jan 21, 2012
By rahamby@msn.com Mr.Weibye was my son's Eng.Lit. teacher (WHS'89), and said son sent me this book as a gift. I am enjoying it IMMENSELY, as I also retired from Houston to NW Arkansas (near Devils'Den)... and therefore a lot of it rings true for me. (My wife was a Harrison girl and one of my best friends is a 'Scenic Seven' kid as well.)
I can see why Weibye was about Jeff's favorite teacher, and can see how he turned him on to the classics.. he's a great 'splainer.
