Simply Amazing!! Aug 09, 2010
By Jessica M. This book made me cry, laugh, and think about what I could do to change my life! This book makes you think about the most successful people in the world and wonder about the challenges they had to endure to arrive at their `yes'. The author, Scott Silverman, allows a detailed look into his own life. From drinking and drugging to entrepreneur and hero (named by CNN), Silverman shares his life experiences to help all of us find our `yes'!
Silverman's life experiences allowed him the vision to create his model for a not-for-profit organization called Second Chance. It is not too often that someone is willing to give their secret for working with populations that need a second chance. Tell me no, I dare you, is must read!
Once you read this book I invite you to contact Scott and his staff about attending a Second Chance graduation!

Buy 2, one to keep for yourself and one to give as a gift! Feb 05, 2012
By Diane and Robert Cook Seriously, buy at least 2 copies of Tell Me No, I Dare You! You'll want to keep one for yourself and give one copy to someone who could use a little inspiration to forge ahead. I can't think of a better gift to give. I've read a lot of books from this genre, too many to count. I know that had this been the first book I'd read on this topic, I wouldn't have needed any of the others!
I understand what self destruction is and what causes it. It can be as subtle as smoking or at it's worst, it can lead to suicide.
Scott shares his story of transformation to illustrate there is hope for those who are at a point where they just can't break free from dispair and don't know how to launch. Tell Me No, I Dare You! challenges you to say YES to life, it's a road map that will guide the reader to find their way to a life worth living. If you, or someone you know, is stuck and doesn't know what step to take next, this book will give that person the courage to move forward right now... It's not where you start, it's where you finish. All you need is a willingness to change. This book will show you how Scott blazed the trail for all of us on how to get there. Buy the book, buy 2, I promise you'll learn something about yourself that you did not know before. I did.

This guy knows what he's talking about! Jun 11, 2011

"the prison teacher"
I LOVED this book! I teach in an adult male prison, so I understand prisoners' needs when they are released. Scott hits the nail on the head with this book. It offers hope and encouragement to all of us; it also shows what persistence can achieve. I'm so impressed with the Second Chance program and with all its graduates! If Departments of Correction would put money into programs such as this, they wouldn't have the problem of prison overcrowding. Fewer former prisoners would return to confinement. Prisons would lower their populations, people would become contributing members of society, and our taxes could go into schools rather than prisons! Scott Silverman proves this every day! Read his book and spread the word!Locked Up With Success: A Prison Teacher's Guide to Closing the Achievement Gap in Any Classroom

Comebacks Mar 19, 2009
By Mary Nuffer Literally thousands of personal guide books are published every year but this one will rivet you to your seat until you finish it. It's a true life story of comebacks, first for the author who fought through enough demons to kill any man 40 times, and the people he has brought back from the dead. These are ex-cons who regain their self-esteem in Scott Silverman's creation: Second Chance. Nearly all of us law-abiding citizens get second chances, but how often do people coming out of prison get second chances? Damn few. You're lucky if you're one of those and live in San Diego where nearly 14,000 folks over the past years have created new lives for themselves. Silverman's book intermixes his own life trials with the stories of those he has brought back to life. Nothing could be more fascinating. This book rates the Big Five Stars in my book.

This book can change your life! Feb 03, 2009

"mj"
I was hooked within just a few pages, with my life changed for the better by the end of the book! I gobbled it up like popcorn. Scott takes you on a bravely candid and deeply personal journey that is sure to be inspirational to those who've experienced their share of life's rocky road. And for everyone else? It will be absolutely fascinating...and no less inspirational. "Tell me no. I dare you!" is a must-read for anyone who's ever thought "it can't be done" or "I'm not smart enough" or even "how can one person make a difference?" Well, you'll quickly learn from someone who's "been there, done that" and facing seemingly insurmountably bad odds, that finding your "yes" just might be where you find your purpose. Scott certainly found his in spades. Just ask the thousands of lives he's touched. Read the book. Hope, love, and a better life can be yours, too...and who knows? Maybe your "yes" will lead you on the journey of a lifetime, too. Humanity is waiting...
