Intense Drama, Prophetic Insight - Thought Provoking Impact Jun 19, 2009
By Richard R. Blake J. M. Emanuel skillfully blends Biblical fiction, end times prophesies which envisage the future with a fast moving action plot, and a contemporary twist that challenges popular fundamentalist views on the time line for Christ's return to earth.
"The 6th Seal" takes the reader on a journey into the dark side of evil through to the light of revelation into the events of the Apocalypse, the preparation for Armageddon, the Harvest of the Earth, and the return of Christ.
Emanuel uses the journal of His Holiness Angelo Savitorri to establish the background for events leading up to the year 2027, fifty one years after Satan cloned himself to lay the foundation for his devious plan of deception to rule on earth.
An old devoted priest learned of the secret identity of the Antichrist. He and two young followers are driven to promote the true message of God, to warn the world of this deception and to prepare man for the real return of Christ.
It is Emanuel's earnest desire to point the reader to a study of end times for themselves, to consider his concept in light of Biblical truths in light of current and traditional interpretations.
Emanuel's writing is strong, tight, exciting fiction, believable, convincing, and engaging. His character development is superb. He has a unique way of creating an overwhelming sense of the darkness of evil contrasted with the purity of truth, revelation, and light. A thoroughly enjoyable read, thought provoking, intense, and enlightening.

Thoroughly Enjoyable Jun 09, 2009
By Kathleen This book was a pleasure to read, containing the right balance between excitement, fear, sexual tension, adventure, and violence. The story line, while set in the future and thus unknown, is remarkable when contrasted with the Book of Revelation. The language is vivid and descriptive, the characters are believable, and the plot is tense. I've shared it with friends and have received the same response - looking forward to future works by this author.
If You Like Straub, Dan Brown, You'll Like This Nov 29, 2009
By April L. Hamilton The 6th Seal pulled me in from page one. It's yet another good vs. evil, end of the world scenario, but it's written so smartly and believably that the situation seems new.
The bad guys are truly frightening, and Emanuel doesn't rely on cheap gore for scares. His dark characters can convey a bottomless pit of want and ambition with a mere gesture or turn of phrase. Much of what they are is revealed through the reactions of those around them. It's been a long time since I've had this type of visceral scare from a book. The good guys are heroic, but in a way that's entirely relatable. There are no action hero types here, just ordinary folk who want the world and everything they love in it to endure.
Emanuel brings a realism to the final conflict, skillfully balancing the military/epic and the spiritual/personal. There's a lot of soul here, yet no religiosity.
If you enjoy the works of Peter Straub, or you've enjoyed Dan Brown's books but wished they had a bit more depth, this is the book for you.
