a long awaited reprint Nov 04, 2009

This book has been out of print for many years and I am happy to see it available at a very affordable price. It is not easy to find short, economical historical surveys of analytic philosophy for undergraduate courses in 20th century philosophy. Most of what is out there are anthologies of selections from primary works, or lengthy histories that are difficult to use in courses.
The only other short, secondary introductions like it are Barry Gross's Analytic Philosophy: An Historical Introduction and Urmson's Philosophical Analysis: Its Development between Two World Wars, both out of print now for a long time.
Corrado's book covers the basics in contemporary analytic theory of knowledge, metaphysics, and ethics on a level that is accessible by undergraduates taking required historical courses in philosophy. I've used the book often as a resource in preparing my own material on analytic philosophy. The availability of this book solves the problem I would always run into of what to use to introduce students to analytic philosophy. For a long time the only alternative was Dover's edition of Ayer's Language, Truth, and Logic.
