An Instant Hit for Sports Fans or Anyone Attempting to Understand One! Apr 15, 2009
By Brian the Sports Fan I picked up this book at a party and from the moment I opened it I couldn't put it down. This book will definitely provide the reader with a wide range of insights into sports culture and the psyche of the modern day sports fan. I highly recommend this book for sports fans doing a little introspection and for those attempting to understand the complex makeup of the sports fans in their lives!

Simply Riveting Feb 19, 2009
By Ned From the first page, I was smitten. Never have I read a book on sports that is as insightful, nuanced and intelligent as this wide-ranging exploration into the psyche of "homo sportsian", a uniquely modern day creation who enlivens, entertains and informs our culture as well as any cross-section of society in recent times.
Whether the reader is an avid sports junkie or just a casual observer, this tour de force will show you the world of modern sports entertainment through the eyes of the converted zealots, and leave you with a sense of wonder at the breadth of human existence.
