The Art Of Living: Letters to My Children

This book is an invitation to step back into ourselves and listen to your mind, to act justly in the conduct of our lives, to view life as a panorama rather then a close-up, and to seek true joy in our everyday lives. Terry Lutes encourages us to learn the ways to be charitable without harm, magnanimous without boasting, and celebratory without arrogance. But most of all he implores us to avoid the bad choices and toxic people that can steal the thunder from our lives.

4He lives his words  Oct 06, 2009
By Dash "Daring Lee"
I worked for the author several years ago. He may not remember me. Although I never got real close to him, from a distance I gauged he was not only a cerebral and analytical individual, but also a quiet motivator. Mr. Lutes gave me the autonomy in my position to branch out and eventually fly. An early passage in his book, "Figuring out what makes people tick and then figuring out how to get to them, motivate them, and/or satisfy them has been my profession". It is all crystal clear now.
Much of the book pertains to the author's perspectives on life in general. Some common sense, some quite insightful.
Lutes claims to be a stoic. If the word stoicism had popped up as a multiple-choice question on an exam I probably would have guessed right, but the book has led me to research the ideology a bit more and understand it's overall vibe. Not a bad life philosophy at all.
My understanding is the book is all about passing practical life-learning lessons on to his kids. I believe it achieved its goal, not only to the intended audience, but to anyone who has the curiosity to pick up the book and read.

4If you are a parent... Or a child... This book is a must read.  Sep 21, 2009
By D. Fleming
The Art of Living is an amazing book with delightful quotations from across the ages. It is part advise, part philosophy, part legacy and written with a lot of heart.

It is the type of book that every parent would like to have written and every child would love to receive.
