Inspiring Feb 25, 2010 The Back Side of Wonderful is an inspiring story though inspiring in a different way than similar stories. From laughter to incredible stories to tears, Doug shows how a wonderful life is built from the back side--the people and experiences that form our core--rather than just the tangible successes. Like the set of a play, the front side shares with its audience its artistic magnificence, but it would be nothing without its braces and support on its back side. Doug's story has given me new appreciation for family, friends and the day-to-day experiences that are easy to bypass and otherwise overlook in our effort to "succeed." Thank you, Doug, for your gracious humility.
Brings back the Olympic Excitment and then some... Nov 27, 2009 As an former Olympic volunteer, Doug's book brings back all the excitement of the Olympic games - and then some. The Sydney Olympics were a magical time - thanks to many talented people such as Doug.
Now we get to hear the story from another angle. Indeed it feels like Doug is sitting next to you telling his amazing story, rather than reading his story.
Fantastically interesting Oct 19, 2009 I am not a reader and have a hard time getting into books, but I could not put this book down and stayed up all night reading it. I cried from humor and from the caring shown by the author. It is most interesting and I found it fascinating to see the backside of the theatrical world and what it takes and what people go though to bring us the spectacular presentations that we enjoy. I highly recommend this book if you are interested in a good read or anything about the theatrical spectaculars backstage around the world.

IT'S WONDERFUL BACK/FRONT/SIDE/UNDER/OVER/IN.... Oct 17, 2009 With BSW Doug is able to take the reader behind the scenes to see and hear and taste and live the extreme highs and lows, as well as the intense spiritual experiences and lessons, that those of us that live 'showbiz' day in and day out take for granted. With tears streaming down my face I set down this book and thanked God for the life I lead, thanked Doug for reminding me what a gift it is, and have ever since not stopped ambushing everyone I know to read it, URGENTLY. Urgently not only because it is 'interesting' to who might be a stranger to the 'biz, but because what Doug reminds us with his anecdotes, his reflections, his insights, is the necessity to get out there and LIVE. To take Life by the horns, wrestling it to the ground, never accept less than what our childhood dreams and wonder provided us with as goals, and never forget to look skyward and say: 'Wow. Thanks!'. Never have we, as a race, gotten so far away from these fundamental things. Never have we needed more to get slapped across the face with them. And never have the Doug Jacks of the world been so desperately needed to scoot us back a bit closer to them.
