What a fun read! Aug 20, 2009
I was transported back in time to a summer of carefree days full of possibilities. It was fun to watch Skeeter's and Jill's friendship grow and blossom. This book is filled with great scenes that will make you laugh, or make you cry, or even make your hair stand on end. I particularly loved the kids' preparation for the big dance...so real! Thanks for a fun summer read.

What a wonderful, fun look at life in Cape Charles, VA in the 50's! For those of us who lived in that time frame, it surely brings back memories of rock'n'roll and good times that were carefree. Having a crow narrate the story was refreshing! A wonderful story for all ages. A must read!

This is without a doubt the most delightful book I have ever read!The reader immediately gets caught up in the story of 2 young"friends" during that magical time of their life as they enter the world of teenagers.The author captures the era with an excellence that makes one feel they are right there with the main characters Jill & Skeeter,feeling the sea breeze from the Chesapeake Bay,living the magic of one's youth again,enjoying the attention to the thrill of the music world, and waiting for the biggest event of their life.
Story is told by the most intriguing character of all,Rueben,who just happens to be a crow!This is a book that noone should miss if they are young, or young at heart, & want to travel back in time when life was so peaceful ,yet excitement was just around the corner!
I have been reading books all my life and this is the first one I could not put down until the thrilling ending.Please do not miss this one!!! (JMU UNIVERSITY GRAD with a Major in Social Sciences,Minor in Engish)
