The Book of Years: Vermonters Tell Stories from their Lives 50 years after High School

The Book of Years is a new kind of "memoir" for the average person: memories from a few paragraphs to twenty or thirty pages collected in a 376-page book with many photographs, a lively design and appeal for a general audience. Members of the Class of 1957 at Burlington High School gathered in August 2007 in Vermont for their 50th reunion with "The Book of Years" in which classmates tell stories from the beginning of their lives and for the 50 years after graduating from high school. It is an example of a way for people as they are finishing their working lives to record the highlights of their lives and what they have learned for the benefit of young people just starting out. The Book of Years collects stories about jobs, love lives, families, military experiences, lessons learned, advice to young ones, and tales of adventure and disaster. There are words to the wise, some inspiring stories, laughs, a few tricks of the trades, and some observations on the Vermont character.
