A brilliant story mixing fiction and historical fact and what could or might have been. Fun characters who come alive in a skillful way as they traverse through the centuries. You are never quite sure what will happen next and you cannot put it down. I do hope there is another book in this series.

I loved reading this, partly because it's about a (phenomenally accurate!) historian and I write a bit of history myself. A mix of great characters from different centuries, a fascinating, funny, surprising adventure.
