Tons of heart! Sep 11, 2008 By the author's own admission this book is a little rough around the edges, yes, but it is raw and real and leaves one with the impression they just heard it flow from the author's own lips over coffee. And it's that lack of polish and fluff that makes this an extremely fast, to-the-point read that, at times, jars the soul, but ultimately inspires it. It is the story of triumph over seemingly overwhelming adversity brought on by childhood abuse, unfortunate circumstance, and institutional abuse from both the psychological and religious communities. But in the end Roxie comes through it with her sanity and faith in God, incredibly, fully intact. Not only does this book make the important point that the misdiagnosis and subsequent mistreatment of the transgendered by the establishment is destined to fail and ultimately harmful, but it shows that such abuses can still be overcome. And Roxie does this through the power of her faith and, finally, receiving proper understanding, diagnosis and compassionate treatment.

Received in the mail on Sat. finished by Sun.! Jul 27, 2008 I recieved this book on a Saturday afternoon and litterally couldn't put it down finishing it Sunday night. Reading this book has allowed me to see into someone else's life and realize that we all go through hardships only some of us far more than others. I am ashamed that we are all so quick to judge and not first realize that we are all God's children and in the end whom are we to judge?

Could not put it down Jun 19, 2008 Roxie's version of her introduction to a relationship with a higher power is clever, witty, troublesome and riveting. From the first chapter, Roxie's sense of wonderment at the existence of her higher power is contagious. Her book describes her relationship with her higher power which was bound in a negative context, and carried her through many crises and transitions in her life. It was hard to put down.
