This is funny *&* full of the best, newest health advice Mar 22, 2008 My doctor recommened this, and said a lot of doctors are recommending it. This book is fantastic, and a shock. Who knew that "fat free evaporated milk" has as much sugar as a candy bar!? I still see "diet" recipes that say "substitute sugar with honey, chopped dates, ripened bananas" -- "ripened" just means the starch breaking down into sugar, and "natural sugar" is still sugar! The authors also help us to understand what's bogus, or just plain wrong even among well-intentioned "diet" recipes. When I got through the book's first chapter I thought WOW that's why no diet has worked for me, or was so hard, or I lost the weight & then gained it back. I'm also thrilled at the thought of fudge sauce on sliced fruit & walnuts every night. I feel so good!
THIS is a diet!? But it works, it's funny and has the most up to date health/nutrition information. Also, since it's both low carb AND low fat, it will be easy to make into a life program.

Best diet book ever. Mar 20, 2008 If you really want to lose weight and improve your health, this is the best diet for the new century. No wonder none of the old diets worked! I can't believe how much I've lost in the month since I started. Ten pounds without cravings! That's because of the cocoa, which helps you go longer without feeling hungry. It's also because of this diet's "makeover" approach to all recipes for all meals. It uses much healthier sugar-free, fat-free, new food products in many of its delicious recipes to create bigger, more filling portions that are still low cal.
It's also the first low carb and low fat diet I've ever heard of. Also valuable is the new health and nutrition information in Parts One & Three of the book. In the past, I've failed at so many diets, not realizing that their claims to "no sugar" & low fat were bogus. This book has a whole section on "hidden sugars in your diet recipes," and I was shocked. That's why I wasn't losing weight!
If you really seriously want to get thin, stay thin, and improve your health, this book is the best.

The Cardiologist's Wife's Chocolate Too! Diet: No Sugar, No Fat & Luscious Mar 19, 2008 I think the book was poorly written. I think an editor would have been nice - LOTS of typos in the recipes. We tried several of the dessert recipes (cheesecake and apple crisp) and threw them away. They were awful!!! Although the ideas in the book are good, the recipes are not and too much Splenda is used. Some of the recipes could do without the Splenda and still taste good.

Most disappointed ever in a diet book. Mar 19, 2008 This is the most disappointed I have ever been in a diet book. It is entirely too restrictive on what you can and can't eat and the meals are too complicated for anyone who has a life! The chocolate sauce is the only helpful thing I got out of it.

Soo love this diet! Mar 19, 2008 This diet is awesome! I've really stuck to it - a first -- & lost 16 pounds in 7 weeks with no cravings, thanks to the cocoa which I was surprised to learn is the best antioxidant. How great is that!! It's also the first diet I know of that's *both* low carb AND low fat. There's a 21-day meal plan and the recipes are wonderful, really inventive. "Substitute THIS ingredient for THAT, & THIS for THAT." The authors teach you how to make every meal & snack healthier.
There's a section on latest findings in health & nutrition that's downright exciting, the information is so new. My favorite there is "Amazing Facts about Your Heart and Blood Sugar," and my favorite recipes (so far) are the New Age Brownies, No Yolks Quiche, Shrimp Scampi, Tex Mex Chicken & the Nova Scotia omelet.
It's also nice that the authors explain everything in a warm way, even include diet humor and an occasional diet cartoon. They don't believe that dieting should be such a grim, complicated business - and that makes me feel good.
You'll love this book!
