The Christaquarians?: A Sociology of Christians in the New Age

The thesis begins with a hypothesis: that there is a movement of New Age Christians. The neologism, "Christaquarians", named after the new astrological Age of Aquarius, is coined to refer to these New Age Christians. Three case studies are examined to test the hypothesis. St James's church, Piccadilly, London, England is an Anglican church renowned for its New Age project, Alternatives. Christians Awakening to a New Awareness, "CANA", is a British network and mailing list of over 100 people which has produced a paper outlining its vision for Christianity in the new millennium. The Omega Order is a small community of New Age Christians living and worshipping in a large manor house near Bristol, England. Fourthly, for a control group, an evangelical Anglican church is subjected to the same tests.
