1The Collar earns no stars!  Apr 01, 2006
By Feline Warrior "felinewarrior"
Although it is clearly meant to be a serious effort, this book will serve as comic relief for all but the close friends and relatives of the author, Bobby Lewis. If not humor, "The Collar" is merely a mockery of the English language.

This sophomoric effort is revealed as such the moment one opens the book: the page numbering is skewed, beginning on the title page. After that, one finds a grammar-be-damned, mad scramble of a story, told in the most confusing manner possible. One wonders if perhaps the two men involved didn't cry, "Punctuation-to-the wind, who cares?!" If properly edited, the 200-page book would likely be sliced down to the size of an instant message, which is probably what it should have been in the first place.

It is hard to believe that writer Rusty Fischer penned, or co-penned, this atrocity. Surely Fischer does not advocate the indiscriminate use of ellipses, run-on sentences, or the frequent appearance of unrelated detail. Frankly, it is surprising that Fischer has allowed his name to be associated with this waste of resources.

Hopefully Lewis has achieved his goal with this nightmare and will spare us future forays into a literary world in which he is clearly a stranger.

3An average first attempt  May 13, 2006
By Michelle Grant
after reading all the reviews on here, I thought I'd give the book a try...it's okay, nothing special, rather soap-operaish- but no worse than any other others I have read in the "romance" genre...not very believable, however.

4No Remorse  May 19, 2009

The Collar: A Novel of Abuse in the Church

As a Christian, It was hard to swallow what I have read in this outstanding story told by Mr.Lewis. To think that someone you could have so much faith in, could tare you apart by lying to get what he desires, and for one to be so nieve to believe in such,. and to have a loved one back him up knowing his evil ways. All I can say is that Mr. Lewis and Mr. Fisher... My hat goes off to you for the work invested into the "Had to be told Novel".

I couldn't put the book down when I read it. I thought it was very well written. Well worth the price of a book!

5A real page turner  Mar 16, 2006
By V. Maddux "avid reader"
This is one of those books you can't put down. What makes it most interesting is that it is based on real events. The author has fictionalized it to spare the victims, but they must feel somewhat vindicated having their story told, even if the names have been changed to protect the innocent. The message is clear: predators who are members of the clergy do not limit themselves to young boys. All are fair prey - and vulnerable, grown women are highly susceptible to the improper advances of these evil individuals. Read and beware - for they walk among us disguised as trustworthy, honorable men of the cloth, when in fact they are no more than wolves in sheeps' clothing.
