The Enlightened Dad May 09, 2008
By S. C. Norrick My only regret with "The Enlightened Dad" is that it wasn't written three years earlier so I could have been more properly prepared for the onslought of fatherhood. The book's account of those first couple of years of fatherhood are not only hilarious, but hauntingly accurate as well. The fact that Geesen and Allan are shown smiling on the book's back cover is living proof that with the right frame of mind heading into fatherhood, there is hope that you can emerge with at least a resemblance of sanity. This book is a must for "real men" that are heading into fatherhood battle for the first time; but I caution that the book be kept away from the wives so the survival tactics remain our secret.
Loved it Feb 04, 2012
By JM Got this for my brother-in-law this past christmas in hopes that he could deal with my high strung, uber-hover mom sister as they raise their new baby. It is the perfect foil and has a ton of advice that I unconsciously internalized many years ago as we raised our kids . . .
Glad to see that there are some like-minded males out there who are not ready to give in to the PC noodnicks shelling out parenting advice today, and can remember that despite the fact that my - and many other - parents did many things considered taboo by today's parenthood police, we still turned out OK.
The Enlightened Dad Enlightened Me Dec 13, 2011
By jskarpel Well thought out, funny, entertaining and oh so true! I found it most helpful to use this book as a reference guide over time. When I found myself dealing with an unusual "fork in the road" being a Dad, I turned to this book and sure enough the answers were there. If the answer was not there, at least there was some solid insight that made me feel that I was not alone and that made all the difference. Looking forward to Enlightened Husband!!?? :)
