The First Officer's Report: The Inside Account of Flight 919 and its Place in the Age of Terror

Shawn Rhodes, the copilot of a Boeing 747, is locked out of the cockpit. The captain is insane, and intends to crash the jumbo jet into a major city! All the security measures implemented since 9/11/01 only thwart Shawn's desperate efforts to save the 500 people aboard, and the thousands who will die on the ground. If that's not enough, he's been plagued by nightmares and visions, and an obsession with a stunning, mysterious flight attendant. If Shawn can pull off a miracle, expect him to get involved with a U.S. decision to expand the War on Terror by attacking Iran, and to face the tragic consequences of a suicide bomber's attempt to assassinate the President. Shawn's story is one of personal growth, and is replete with suspense, caustic wit, and sexual intrigue. It's technically accurate and timely, but clearly written. It's a must-read for every traveler, and even airline pilots will find it informative. It could be fiction - or it could begin happening today!

5The First Officer's Report  Dec 11, 2009
By William G. Shepard
Author uses a very realistic, timely and scary premise. Well-written and understandable discussion and explanations of flying the aircraft, along with coping with potential hazards or emergencies, and issues of navigation. Very good character development, showing personality and in depth interaction. As the story develops it was very hard to put the book down. The suspense I found riveting. And the plan for saving the plane was borderline genious. I think this story would make a wonderful movie.

5I loved it!  Jun 26, 2008
By Sean
I would highly recommend The First Officer's Report. The book is cleverly written. I easily became absorbed and the suspense made it difficult to put down. Many times I found myself laughing out loud, sitting on the edge of my seat in suspense, and, I must admit, holding back tears. The technical information is very intriguing. Honestly, I feel it is much better than the description led me to believe.

2Didn't finish it  Apr 30, 2012
By Bill Robinson
Boring and self-absorbed, in a world where all pilots are self-absorbed and all women want to sleep with them (and are well endowed). So bored with it I couldn't finish it.

5Must read  Feb 03, 2012
By Craig J. Snyder "Craig Snyder"
I do not like to read a lot of books, but being a pilot and seeing the kindle price at $1.99, I had to give it a try. I could not put this book down. I read it at home, work and finished it at the airport where I picked up my bride to be from high school (KTVC). I love 747's and I read in the book that this was a classic 747-200. No fly by wire here.. Great story, a little suspense, and a hero's ending. Loved it.
