The Girl on the Dock: A Dark Fairy Tale

Returning to the home of her grandfather after her final school year, Petra Morganstern is a changed young witch. Confident in her recent choices, yet plagued by dreams of what they cost her, Petra is unsure what to do with the rest of her life. Petra’s one ray of hope is her young step-sister, Izabella, whose simple-minded charm is only offset by the awful Phyllis, her hateful mother. Desperate to protect Izabella from the increasing rages of Phyllis, Petra struggles to find balance between the forces that seek to rule her heart. Will she cling to the choices she has already made, upholding good over her own greatest desires, or will the ghost of power and revenge, always at work in the back room of her mind, be her final undoing? As things spiral out of control, Petra finds herself confronted with the unforgiving force of destiny, thrusting her into the ultimate choice one more time. Only this time, no one will be there to save the day. This time, the choice will be Petra’s alone.

5One of the Greats  Mar 05, 2009

Girl on the dock is a spin off of a great fanfic. But in some ways the Girl on the dock is better then the story that it was born from. So if your looking for another magical tale after harry potter look no futher. Because this book will keep you hooked even after your done reading it. It will leave you wanting more of the Girl on the dock. So don't just sit there order this book before you need your own wishing tree to know what happens in this terrific book.

5I Want More  Dec 04, 2011

Petra is a fascinating character, engaged in a fight with her own inner demons, which most of us can sympathize with. Her little sister, Izzy, is charming and mysterious, leaving us to wonder just how much latent magic lies in her innocent "muddle" soul. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to all ages. I am really hoping for a sequel.

5Girl on the Dock  Nov 23, 2008

A thoroughly enjoyable read. The characters were believable--to the extent I cared what was happening to them. Had to read the book in one sitting and when I got to the end I cheered. I recommend this novella and look forward to more offerings from this author.

5A Very Nice Read  Mar 08, 2010
By Chad L. Dunlap
I believe the author did a wonderful job on what had to be a difficult undertaking.

This is based on a character that was created from fanfare stories that he previously published. At first I thought it was a tad bit darker than it needed to be but after reading the entire book I feel he did a great job of keeping the story line of his first two fanfare books as well as a nice bridge to the third book.

The story was lively, entertaining, and well written.

I can't wait for Volume 2!

5Fantastic Story Telling  May 22, 2013

I was introduced to this author through the James Potter series that he writes. I got this book because when reading that, he mentions that it would be good to read this to get the background of Petra before reading the third James Potter book. I definitely love this writing style. You are transported to another world and feel like you are living it with these characters. This is a short book and a quick read, but it was well worth my time and money. I will definitely be reading it again.
