Thumbs Up for The Grasshopper Man! Apr 20, 2008 This book is sci-fi thriller, romantic/travel adventure, all rolled into one.
As the plot twists and turns through changing time sequences
and differnent countries, the reader is treated to rich descriptions of gourmet
meals, beautiful scenery... and then it all changes.
Within the different layers of the story there is something for everyone to enjoy.
I felt as if I had visited Hong Kong, Japan, New Orleans and enjoyed the
surprise grand finale. I recommend this book to anyone interested in a good,
and unusual, adventure.
The Grasshopper Man Feb 10, 2008 Interesting combination of action adventure, virtual (un)reality, introspection, and time jumping. En route to China for a much needed vacation, Doug and Chris Scott arrive in Hong Kong. But their vacation becomes a bizarre nightmare as they are kidnapped, escape, are chased through the underbelly of Hong Kong, and are befriended by an ancient Chinese man who leaves an indelible impression on Doug. They slowly realize that they are trapped in a sinister virtual reality program. As they are chased across China, through New Orleans and San Franscisco, and finally through time and their own childhoods, and on to Japan, Doug becomes convinced that their only chance of escape is inextricably linked to the old man in Hong Kong. The journey stretches their sanity and their love to the limit and ultimately leads them to an unimaginable fate. And leaves the reader wondering what was real and what was in the program and where did the adventure end???
