In the unique, artsy community of Skylark, everybody has a secret. Heather Lore makes the community and her characters come alive in this story that's part mystery and part adventure but also carries lessons about trust, friendship and family. Not just another story of kids as amateur detectives; adults are actively engaged in the childrens' lives and are integral to unraveling Skylark's secrets.

Ms. Lore has succeeded in writing an engaging children's book that is enjoyable for all ages. Her vivid imagination and attention to detail quickly and easily transport the reader to the Skylark community. And as there are some vacant homes there, there's room enough for all to settle in and get to know these engaging characters.
