The Hunt

It started as a massacre - and became a mystery. An alien organism connected with a world-wide plague of violence. Secret political deals to exchange an dangerous and uncontrollable technology. Death marches through space toward the civilized worlds, with chaos in the vanguard. ... Seven thousand light years from Earth, the M4 globular cluster hangs above the Milky Way galaxy. When a colonization team from the Geodesic civilization is killed there, it triggers a hunt that leads across three separate starfaring civilizations and brings Raoul Talbot into direct confrontation with his emotions about non-human intelligent species, focusing the reader on deeper questions about what it means to be an individual. Written in a direct and cinematic present-tense style, The Hunt is about the transformation that, for each character, is a direct consequence of this adventure - no one is left untouched by events. No one will be the same in the end.

5These are best aliens ever!  Aug 14, 2008
By Ara Spellman
This book is so full of sci-fi, mystery, adventure, politics, interpersonal conflict and growth that once you start you won't be able to put it down until you find out what's really going on.It's like a combination of David Weber's Honor Harrington series and Ann McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern but totally unique. Mark Cashman shows you what's happening instead of just telling you so you actually feel fear and joy and connection to all the unique members of this world. I can't wait for his next creation.
