The Hunters will hold you in its grip, Jun 08, 2009
By Cheryl Killian I read this book when it was first published, and I could barely put it down until I had finished this fast-paced, complex story of intrigue and espionage, and the exciting world of military intelligence.
You can tell from the well-developed characters and details that Edwin Hodges (the author) lived many of the events in the book, and that makes it even more gripping. What else is the government keeping from us? How much is reality and how much is fiction?
It starts out in the Vietnam war, and brings us all the way to immediate and familiar times. The story is as real as the things you see on CNN news every day. It could be an accurate accounting of a world most of us are oblivious to, a network that helps keep us safe from terrorists and others who would harm citizens of the United States, but at the same time places in harm's way those brash enough to cross the lines. But with a twist that will be new to most readers.
There is a female interest in the book, a beautiful woman who lives in the mountains of Colorado. She gets accidentally caught up in the hunt, and finds herself far from home and things familiar to her.
The action takes place all over the United States, from the snowy mountains to the desert ravines, and all over the world. There is mysticism and an American Indian spirit guide whom the protagonist senses in his life. There is war and the death that comes with it, including cold blooded assassinations.
Don't miss the opportunity to read this book whether you are a woman or a man. It is a sleeper that should be a blockbuster movie if anyone ever discovers it. Pass it on.
