The Impatient Tide

Viktor Alenius, a young Finn, builds his towboat business on the often turbulent waters of the Columbia River estuary. Construction of a jetty at the river mouth forces him to consider moving to Portland, a decision he delays when his mother dies.

Peter Nordal, of Norwegian descent, relocates and expands his salmon fishery and canneries despite attacks by rogure fishermen and a young criminal who believes Nordal killed his father and brother.

By Terry G. Taylor
An absolutely remarkably well-told story of early life at the mouth of the Columbia River; filled with facts and real places, all woven together in a gripping "around-the-campfire" style narrative.

Even as an award-winning history teacher I am totally envious of this author's skills!
