The Insiders: A Thriller Aug 30, 2009 It has been over 2 decades since I had such a good read as "The Insiders: A Thriller". It actually was so engrossing that I had to re-schedule meetings at work because I wanted to find out what happened. Such a good story line that I cannot wait until the next part of the thriller is published. Craig...get busy...cuz we are waiting!

3.5 stars - Decent conspiracy story Jul 24, 2009 I'm a fan of corporate thrillers, so when I saw all the 5-star reviews for this one I just had to get it. This is a decent financial-conspiracy-type corporate thriller. However, after reading it, I was a little surprised by all the "greatest book ever" type reviews. So, I just went back and looked at them, and this time discovered most of them are by reviewers who have only reviewed this one book. I'm not sure what that means - but it's definitely not usual. And though I enjoyed the book in general, it didn't live up to all of it's hype for me.
In any event, the premise of a young man trying to bring down a cladestine organization of the most powerful businessmen in the country is interesting. There's a lot of action - right from the start. However, on the downside it could have used some better editing. (it's a long book, unnecessarily so on occasion. It's also almost as if there's too much the author wants to convey. The backstory and current story cast of characters is also a bit long and occasionally unwieldy).
Bottom Line: A decent thriller. Those who like conspiracy theories and tales of the wealthy taking advantage of the masses will probably enjoy this one more than I. For those that prefer general financial corporate thrillers more - I'd recommend one of Joseph Finder's or Naked Option first.

Keeps you at the edge of your seat. Jul 10, 2009 Loved this book. Great characters and a grabber of a story. You have to wonder where the border is between fact and fiction, and this book will leave you with some doubts about the 'real' world. I highly recommend The Insiders.
A Great Read Jul 07, 2009 Very applicable to what you read in todays headlines, Craig Hickman shows a lot of insight and expertise as he tells a very compelling story. It starts out fast and has you hanging onto your seat as it does nothing but pick up steam. I have already recommended this book to many in my family and highly recommend it to anyone else looking for a good read. I just hope that there is a sequel in the works.

The Insiders ~ A True Thriller! Jun 25, 2009 I'm not a great fan of fiction but Craig Hickman's writing style knocked me out. While I had to stop reading occasionally, I couldn't wait to get back to the story and find out what was going to happen next. Maybe it's about timing or maybe it's about the times, but this story was so compelling, it was disturbing. As the drama began to escalate, I began to formulate my expectations, and Craig didn't disappoint. That said, once I was thoroughly engaged and freely predicting outcomes, snap...another twist...a persuasive, embedded twist, that pulled me in even deeper. This complex tale of corporate corruption, stock manipulation, and the ravenous greed of the super rich entertains from start to finish. The truth is, I'm not sure what the truth is. Craig's thought provoking story telling had me interchanging reality with fiction, his characters with today's headlines, and the story's ending with a forewarning of our future. A must read...well done Craig, and thanks for the thrills!
