The Island Hunters: Book I - The Backyard Pirate Adventure

The legends and lore of Africa come to life for one American family that finds themselves on a historical journey in the company of pirates, on the run from a secret society, escaping wild creatures, unlocking biblical clues and discovering the path to an ancient treasure. The story begins with a college professor and his wife who receive a strange package one night from the Caribbean. It contains a summons that reveals a secret that Professor Hunter had left in his past. Now the truth has been intercepted by an unknown enemy - and the professor's five mischievous sons. When the Hunter boys resort to sneaking around their home in search of what their parents are up to, they find themselves caught up in the mystery. The suspense starts mounting as they are led on an unexpected visit to the island of Jamaica. The Backyard Pirate Adventure is the first in a series that begins in the heart of the Caribbean in a place most have never known, the uninhabited regions of Cockpit Country.

5The Kids Love It!  May 04, 2008
By J. Redmond "Parent"
It was read aloud in a park full of kids and they were glued for almost two hours. A couple of grandparents commented that the book was so genuine and funny and the way the detail of the island was captured and the characters of the children in the story was portrayed - was amazing! It is definitely a book that can reach any age. It is children's literature in its most pure, classical sense. It is really one of the best I've ever read.

5Thrilling!  Aug 14, 2008
By Michelle Williams
My son is entering the fourth grade and is challenged when asked to read chapter books. Most do not appeal to him nor our ethnicity. This was untrue with The Island Hunters. I have not seen him so passionate about a story. I am currently looking for the next books in the series upon his request!
