A Maine mystery for children hooks reader Jan 07, 2010
By B. Johnston The Lightkeeper's Key by Angeli Perrow is a delightful, wholesome and most entertaining mystery for children and adults alike.Written for readers 8-10 years of age, my seven year old granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed having the story read aloud to her. Two mysteries, one told to Mandy, the main character, by her grandfather before his death ,one currently happening at the local lighthouse keep the reader wanting more.Mandy and her cousin Nick have a lot of adventures as they try to solve the mysteries and get to know one another, as well. This book is well-written, descriptive and provides strong role models for the young reader: Mandy and Nick are smart, independent, respectful and resourceful as they find the way to solve the century old mystery of the lightkeeper's key and the mysterious incidents at the lighthouse. An easy and pleasurable read for all.

An enjoyable read! Dec 03, 2010
By bluecrush611 This was Angeli Perrow's first chapter book and I must say that I was very pleased! The mystery was quite believable. I figured it out only a moment before the reveal was made. I would like to add that the description of the "snake pit" was so realistic that my skin was crawling! This book would be best for any age above 8 years old. Some parts may be a little frightening for the younger kids. I would highly recommend this for anyone that wants an easy read. Once I got started, I couldn't stop!
An exciting mystery! Aug 07, 2011
By pegasus Move over Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys! The Lightkeeper's Key, the first book in the Mystery Key Series, keeps you turning the pages from the first page to the last. Two cousins investigate mysterious happenings at a haunted lighthouse, search for a treasure, and foil the bad guys. This is a great story for 8-12 year olds -- mystery, adventure, ghosts, treasure, and a secret code!
