Alec's adventures take a twist Apr 10, 2009
By Cat Tucker This is the third book so far in this series, and it continues to carry the story plotline forward, with some unexpected twists. Alec awakens in Goldenfields at the start of the book, and begins to work with the Goldenfields Guard and the ingenairii to build up the power of the Duke. Not everything goes smoothly along the way however, and Alec seems frustrated and unable to resolve some of the situations that confront him. When there is an attack on a neighboring country, Bondell, Alec leads a cavalry group on a 'behind the lines' mission to rescue hostages, and a major mistake he makes has consequences throughout the rest of the book.
This volume was different from the other two in that the location of the action moves around much more than it has in the other books. The writing is still good, although there are a couple of typos in the text.
The cast of characters expands with the new locations that Alec visits, but is still a manageable number. There is a list of characters to help keep track if needed, and most of the names are familiar to American readers (not manufactured and unpronounceable).
The story goes forward quite a bit with this volume, and a teaser for the next volume is included in the back of the book, showing that there is more for Alec to do as he tries to grapple with growing up, having a girl friend, and trying to be a responsible person - all of which come into conflict in some cases.

Great continuation to an already great story ! May 06, 2009
By Nicholas Whitaker
"Nick Whitaker"
This book picks up at the end of At The Seat Of Power and continues to provide the same rollercoaster ride of thrills and excitement. Alec's Journey continues to find ways to twist and turn while he struggles to regain his Ingenairii powers and do all he can to protect the dominion. I am anxiously awaiting the release of the next book in the series.

This book turns the story in a new direction May 08, 2009
By Alicia Harding I thought the first two books in this series fit together really well and told Alec's story pretty consistently. This book follows Alec as his life goes off in new directions. After all his successes to date in the Ingenairii Series, Alec is given responsibility - and he has some trouble handling it. When he leads the campaign into Bondell, he shows inexperience and poor judgment, which come back to bite him. Bethany and Imelda play prominent roles in this novel, and come across as sound, reliable people - they get rounded out more as characters, as does Alec himself. All in all, another great book in the story of Alec.

Alec's adventures move in a new direction Apr 22, 2009
By Mark Brown This novel keeps moving Alec's story right along, but takes things in a completely different direction. His life seems to be going along perfectly in some ways, but then he tries to do too much at once and the story unveils some surprising plots twists as a consequence of what Alec does. I enjoyed reading about him and his peers, a group of many other teenagers who like him are learning how to cope with change and new responsibilities. Alec really goes through some trials in Bondell, and I didn't expect the way a couple of the subplots turned - his relationship with Bethany as one example. I am eager to read the next book and see what is going to happen. A couple of probable plot twists seem to be foreshadowed, but the author has a way of making things catch the reader by surprise. I enjoyed reading this - it is still a great piece of escape reading.

Home Run Number Three Aug 27, 2009
By JSC The only thing wrong with this book is that it ends.
As other reviewers suggest, the action and the plot really ricochet in this one. The main character, Alec, has developed so many relationships with people who become dependent on him that a catharsis was and is inevitable. Alec is clearly headed for a major showdown and Author Jeffrey Quyle has us eagerly awaiting it. Part of me hopes that the next book will wrap up the story and reveal the resolution (how many more balls can you keep in the air, Jeff?) but part of me wants him to keep telling the story for a long time to come. As clever a writer as he is, perhaps he will find a way to do both.
