The Love Thing

Twenty-two-year old Greg DeAngelis moves to San Francisco from New York to escape his overbearing father, who's pressuring him to go to law school, and his ex-boyfriend Matthew, who dumps him for an older, richer man. To make desperately needed money Greg temps at a law firm, where he blunders into the role of the firm’s official birthday cake maker—despite his utter lack of culinary skill. A lot of guys vie for the hero’s attention as he navigates the rough waters of office politics and single life in San Francisco, but only one of them can give him "the love thing." Can he figure out which one, before it's too late? This comic novel is about the importance of love and friendship, and of knowing who your true friends really are.

5A sweet, sweet book  Jul 29, 2009
By B. Lou "B.Lou"
I helped workshop this book on TNBW and it's a fantastic book. This is one of the few gay/lesbian books that I've read recently that is positive, loving, and very, very readable. Who can't relate to this main character? He doesn't know what he wants out of life. The man he loved cheated on him. The career his family wants for him bores him. But he doesn't know where he should go from here? He takes a dead-end job to pay his bills and slowly discovers through trial and error what he really wants. This is a love story, a coming of age story, an every person story that will touch the heart and entertain. A must read for anyone with a romantic heart.

5Was not what I expected, but in a good way  Mar 02, 2010

Wow, a very well written sweet book. It reads like a romance novel, well it is romance, abet boy love romance. Not a novel to download (read off my Kindle) if you are looking for erotica but don't pass it up due to the lack in the sex scenes you won't be missing it in the least.

5A Very Enjoyable Read  Jul 31, 2009
By Brad Lyman
I read this book earlier this year on [...] and thoroughly enjoyed it. Like myself, the main character moves to San Francisco in the mid-90s and starts finding his way through office politics, housemates, friendship and love. I laughed and smiled often while reading it and the humor reminded me of Tales of the City, but I cared about these characters more.

I enjoyed it so much that when it became available on Amazon this week, I ordered 3 books (1 for me to read again and 2 for friends. I just received them today. I look forward to enjoying it all over again.

I enjoyed reading this novel. The writing is very convincing, a good mix of fun and the serious. I look forward to the author's next book.

5WHEN WORDS DO THEIR JOB AND PULL YOU INTO THEM YOU KNOW THE WRITING HAS THAT SPECIAL INGREDIENT SO NEEDED TO MAKE IT SPECIAL.  May 24, 2010
By Patti Yaeger

I Have read 'The Love Thing" four times now! Yes, I said four times! Why? Because it is that good! I love a story that has the rare ability to pull you up on the stage with it. Place you tenderly in each scene whether it be a humorous, sad or troubled.

This is a story about finding oneself. Learning about others and how they 'fit' into your own life. It is about 'daring' to live and live fully.

It has a feeling of 'truth' about it as not glossed over to where it is sheer comedy. Though, to me there was a lot of comedy as laughed a lot. Also very touching. Shed a few tears. Felt anger at times so knew Chris had drawn me in so deep I could relate to Greg.. feel his frustrations, pain and joy.

When I read and I read a lot. I want to relate to the story. Want to believe in it. Want entertained by it. Want touched by the words. Make me 'feel' 'react' and give a damn about those in the story.

I feel all these emotions reading this little beauty.
