The Lure of Africa

Despite having limited knowledge of any of the African cultures, in 1972 my four children and I left Canada to go live in Kenya. This book is a personal narrative of our first year, a year filled with challenges and crises set amongst the barrenness and beauty of the lands and peoples of Kenya. From our first landlord that attempts to rape Jerry; to Scott and Rick who are lost in one of Naivasha's forests; to local Africans who stone our pet baboon and puppy; to the night of terror in Nakuru game park when three east Indians intend to rape Jaden; to the suitcase full of money found abandoned in our backyard swimming pool; and, to the prostitution ring, concealed behind a modeling agency operating in Nairobi, that tries to entice Jaden into its fold. The people and incidents in this book are real.
