Hilarious Political Commentary Mar 29, 2009
By B. Floth
"Belle du Jour"
This book was hilarious, from start to finish. It points out the constant foibles of the past 8 years and tries to make light of some very dark subject matter. Expert satire, the cartoons may look crude but the message is clear. I laughed out loud many times while reading through this book, from the ineptitude of our former President Bush to the even more incompetent White House Staff to the insurgents we continue to deal with in this crazy war, Daub has a way with these hot-button topics. It's a difficult task to bring the humor out of these things but he does it perfectly. Even though Bush's Presidency has come to an end this is a great way to commemorate those hard 8 years.
the Appalling Adventures of a [self-anointed] (Almost) Autocrat and the Asinine Atrocities he Assailed upon America Nov 17, 2008
By G. K. Daub If you're like me (and most intelligent Americans) you all wondered how we ever thought we would survive the Bush Regime. Now that Hope is so gleaming and shiny in our collective near-immediate future (65 DAYS and COUNTING - WOOHOO!!), what better way to reflect on the inanity than with this handy volume that was truly a labor of love by someone who was pretty much fed up with the whole situation but literally couldn't get up and do anything about it...so he vented with pencil and paper, and this is the fantastic result. It's bad that it had to be that bad that Butch needed to do something badly about it, but it's good that he became productive (rather than, say, withdrawn) after his accident, and vented his frustrations by giving us his own unique perspective on the state of The State, amongst other things. Love it all, forgive him the spelling errors (I'm a perfectionist, I got over it - you can too; it's *his* voice, and if given the opportunity, we'd probably find it superior to that of his subject, hahaha) and enjoy "cartoons with a different view"!
