5Mainecoonery  Sep 12, 2009
This is a wonderful book! If you own a Maine Coon or you love cats, you'll enjoy this read.

5Garnet Quinn has done it again.  Sep 03, 2009
Garnet Quinn has done it again. Mystery, intrigue, romance. This book has all that and then some. We have attemped murder, catnappers, mummys, poachers, lovers torn apart and reunited, good guys, bad guys, irritating guys and a MOOSE! And through it all, Hawkeye, Bhu, Wulf, and Shere Khan along with the help of some new friends, sort it all out and make everything right. I loved this book so much I read it twice. Yes, the book is entertaining, but also informative. I learned more about breeding and blood lines and showing a cat just from reading this book. If you can't get enough of Ms. Garnet Quinn, check out her web site [...] and find out more about the author.

5Welcome Back, Shaggy Cats!  Sep 02, 2009
...and welcome too, to your new friends, both the hairy 4-legged ones (including the moose) and the non-hairy 2-legged ones. And we hope we have opportunities in the future to welcome you back again and again.

Forget about all the other animal story extremes you've ever read - the cutesy-poo, the gloom-and-doom and the supernatural - and join the Merry Maines for another series of non-stop adventures. The author, a master story-teller, skillfully combines several story lines into a coherent whole with a very satisfactory non-mushy and hilariously funny ending. She also creates characters, both cat and human, who are distinctive personalities. A fascinating saga of the possible origin of one bloodline of the Maine Coons is interspersed between parts of the adventures, much of it told by Shere Khan, the Merry Maines Cattery's foundation sire, the "cat who walks by himself" in the Maine woods, knows what is happening throughout his territory, and looks after his cats and people.

Looking after everybody is no sinecure for Shere Khan, and keeps his big furry polydactyl paws on the move. What is the story behind the litter of red Coon kittens rescued by his favorite son Hawkeye and Hawkeye's sidekick Bhu Fan, a feisty Korat "princess"? Who is the mysterious momcat rescued by Shere Khan himself? Is there really an ancient Viking gravesite on the Merry Maines Cattery property, and if so, can cattery owner Beth and her game warden friend keep the state bureaucrats from taking over the property? What about the poachers? How can cats help a wounded moose? Is "the professuh" really as mean and nasty as he seems? What mischief is the kitten Star going to get into next? How do these north woods-savvy cats cope with being kidnapped from a cat show in New York City and find their way back to Beth through hostile, unfamiliar city streets?

You'll often sit on the edge of your chair, you'll frequently mellow out and want to purr, and you'll laugh yourself silly as these exceptional cats meet all challenges, rout all villains and triumph over all obstacles.

Buy this book and its prequel, and tell all your friends about them! And let's face it - don't we all think our own cats are as perceptive, intelligent, loving and gorgeous as the Merry Maines?

5More Fun with the Merry Maines gang  Aug 04, 2009
When Bhu Fan and her buddy, the Maine Coon Hawkeye rescue a litter of abandoned kittens, little did they know what it would lead to. The Merry Maines gang had no sooner become involved with sorting out this problem than the ever-nosy little Korat finds a doorway into another ancient mystery under the old barn close by Beth Merriman's cattery where a wounded moose would later take shelter. And when it becomes a possiblity that this dark chamber is left over from an incursion by Eric the Red's Vikings, Beth and her friend, Cheryl Smith, are not sure what they've been led to is a good thing. If the Antiquities Pooh-Bahs decide it's for real and not a hoax, they could confiscate Beth's farm, her cattery and wreak havoc in the lives of all the inhabitants of this small section of North Central Maine. And when the ladies try for a well-earned break from such complications by attending the big cat show in Manhattan with their assorted felines, another villain makes off with the whole kit-and-kaboodle and suddenly the country cats from the Northwoods find themselves alone on what to them must seem like an scary alien planet.
