"The Motorgirl Memoirs" Is a Page-Turner! Aug 23, 2010
By Paij Davis This book is a trip you'll want to take more than once! You feel as though you are there with Motorgirl til the very end. "What's next?" you'll keep asking yourself. Gordone answers questions about bipolar disorder that everyone seems to be asking these days. So many people are diagnosed with this now that it is better understood. If not yourself then someone you know.

couldn't put it down Aug 15, 2010
By suesan stovall I love this book. It is a deep and gripping insight into an uncommon life and mind. Leah Carla Gordone allows us into the inner workings of a woman who lived life from depths that few have experienced. A woman her searches for angels and soulmates sometimes from the depths of hell. Only to return always to a place of profound creativity and somehow, salvation. Her willingness to share her story is courageous enough, but the way she writes it down is close to brilliant. I have had the honor of seeing her read it live and play her songs. If you ever get a chance to experience Leah live, it is something to behold. Read this book. I didn't want it to end.

A shining Tale of Transformation Aug 14, 2010
By Lo Galluccio "From hazardous, fragmented [mis]adventures, Leah-Carla Gordone pulls a shining crystal ball of understanding--reconciling the intensely creative and bipolar parts of herself. Her memoir never loses a kind of mystical wonder at life, humor, or an undeniable self-possession, even when it seems that all else is falling away...a triumphant story of feminine resilience and beauty." - Lo Galluccio, Author of Hot Rain, Sarasota VII, and Terrible Baubles

Couldn't Put This Book Down! Aug 12, 2010
By D. Carmona GREAT summer read...This nonfiction reads like a novel. You'll laugh, you'll cry. You'll get to know a lot about the author, who is a singer and a songwriter. She's got CDs out and her music is great. She tells about opening for Norah Jones, and The Indigo Girls. MOTORGIRL (Em-Gee) travels far and wide in search of her soulmate, in search of her greater purpose. Her manic highs are these crazy adventures. She's hung out with Robert De Niro, James Earl Jones, Nine Inch Nails, and Quentin Tarantino. Her story of being at Woodstock '94 is UNFORGETTABLE. Leah-Carla Gordone has been through a lot, and lived to tell the tale. She's a wise soul who weaves her poetry and song lyrics into this tale that grips you and gives you a first-hand experience in what it's like to be so intensely artistic, yet bordering at times on the brink of madness. And the ending--well, I won't give it away. Loved it!
Could NOT put the book down! Jan 10, 2012
By Susan E. Headley I have never read a book like this before. I usually read books that are all lovey-dovey. I wanted a change and boy was I glad I read this book. It was amazing to see her turns and twists and she found herself. She takes these amazing trips and somehow it always turns out bad. Her mom is a small part in the book, but a big part of her life. I think everyone should read this book. I had it done in six days. I learned about drugs, sex, and life in general.
