The Opernball

While on leave from the Air Force in Austria, a young American serviceman named Will attends the sumptuous Opernball (opera ball) in Vienna. There he meets Natasha, a beautiful Hungarian refugee. It's love at first sight for the couple, despite the disapproval of her family, and they embark upon a secret courtship. Yet when their relationship is exposed during a fateful trip to Paris, they are forced apart. Nineteen years later, Will returns to Vienna; to his surprise, Natasha is there as well. Their tender reunion is cut short, however, when Natasha reveals that she is being blackmailed into working for the KGB. Will, who in his youth dreamed of rescuing a beautiful damsel in distress, suddenly finds himself attempting to do just that-with no guarantee of a happy ending.

A wonderful mix of romance and espionage for teens and adults. This would be a great film. I look forward to more from the honorable hero, perhaps a sequel. It is very entertaining.

I'd been waiting to get my hands on a copy of this book. If you haven't yet encountered the suave, courageous Will of the Air Force and his marvelous sense of romance, then it's high time you did. The story was unique and the characters were engaging.

4The Opernball  Apr 10, 2008

The Opernball is an entertaining, romantic adventure. It is the story of Will's search for true love in a bygone era in Europe. It has the right mix of romance and intrigue with an exciting climax. It is enjoyable to read and hard to put down.

4Opernball - a modern Cinderella story  Apr 04, 2008

I enjoyed this book from start to finish. The story of how Will, a nearly hopeless romantic, finds true love amidst the intrigue and adventure of Old Europe as it became "New", captures the hopes and dreams of everyman. Well done!
