The Primrose Promise

New author Bob Fromme Jr. writes from the heart in The Primrose Promise, a loosely biographical historical novella set in the coal mining region of Pennsylvania during the year 1913. In three parts with the titles, “Grin and Bear It,” “Brewing Trouble Instead of Tea,” and “Cowboys and the Covenant Renewed,” he shares an intimate, compassionate story of a father coming to grips with the death of his son. In his mourning, he finds that he is unable to be available to his young grandson, undoubtedly, it does not help that his son’s son is his splitting image. While the two begin to fulfill new roles in one another’s lives, a tenderly planted yellow primrose offers them hope and guidance on how to live a deeply felt life that will ultimately remain subtle and sweet, even as they endure tragedy.
