My Grandson Will Love It! Nov 04, 2009 I told myself I was buying "Miss Shivers" for my 5 year old grandson. Actually, I bought it for the illustrations, which it turns out are created by the author. They are delightful, and tell a story all by themselves. On the second reading, imagining my little grandson nestled alongside me at bedtime, I read aloud. The narrative has a pleasant "read aloud" rhythm, and an important moral about the joy of love and community which I know he'll enjoy before drifting off to sleep. I will treasure this little book. Now I need to order another copy for my grandson.

Delightful! Dec 11, 2008 Miss Shivers is truly a delight. If you're a knitter, you'll appreciate it even more. Having no idea how cold she was going to be after her first shearing (and how my 3 year old granddaughter and I could relate to that lately in our recent cold weather!!!) She uses her terrific ingenuity and comes up with an idea to make a sweater out of some old fleece found in the barn. The illustrations of each of the barn animals that help her with her project are amazing. Each of their individual characteristics shine through the book. And, since I am a knitter myself, it makes it even that much more fun to read this to my granddaughter (having received hand-knitted sweaters from me). It is THE book to put your knitting down for some read-aloud time with your young ones.
