5History of Poarch Band of Creek Indians  Aug 01, 2010
By Eileen Powell
This book is very well researched and written. It contains all the details of the life experiences and journey of "Creek" Indians in the early days of settlement in Alabama. It clearly shows the little heard and understood perspective of Native Americans in their struggle for survival and how they were treated by various European colonial governments, as well as the U.S. government. Their story is a testament to their strength, courage, heart, and grit. Highly recommend this book

5A well researched Tribal Historical-Genealogical Book about the only Federally Recognized Creek Tribe East of The Mississippi,  Aug 31, 2011
By C. Travis
This book is a must have for Tribal Historical and Genealogical Researchers. It identifies the Poarch Tribe's documented Ancestral connection to the original Historical pre-removal Creek Nation Ancestors in Alabama. It describes the Creek Nation East Treaty Documents and the Assigned Creek Treaty Reservation Deeds specifically allotted to the Poarch Band Creek Ancestors. The complete Poarch Ancestral Base Census Roll is included as a bonus and listed in the Appendix. Chapter 24 gives details about present day Poarch Band Tribal Enrollment, that is based strictly on the Poarch Tribal Enrollment Code. It also lists all other Federal Census documents, specific Census years and Counties that identify any other Poarch Creek "Indian Ancestors" whose descendants could possibly enroll if the Tribal Enrollment Code was Amended? I would recommend anyone reading the complete book which has a vast wealth of Historical and Genealogical documentation. The Poarch Tribal History and present day Enrollment documentation has never been printed in such detail. I would highly recommend the book and the vast amount of new info provided in this book.
