5For any 'real' Dukes of Hazzard fan  Mar 27, 2008
By Amber M. Holland
'The Roads Back to Early Hazzard' is THE book for any true fan of the Dukes of Hazzard. Jon Holland talks about all the behind the scenes stuff that make the show that much more interesting. You get a chance to see what it was really like to be in the garage that helped get the show on the map. There are tons of pictures to go with the stories from the guys who worked on the original body crews and did a lot of the filming while in Georgia. This is a book all about the first five episodes that made the Dukes of Hazzard what it became: a household name. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the show.

3Poor photos - great info!  Jan 31, 2011

I gave the book three out of five stars because it left me feeling ... well, ... underwhelmed.

I don't mind that the pictures are all black and white, but some of them are so terribly blurry and poorly reproduced that it's very hard to see what's going on. And the captions weren't always clear as to which one was for which photo.

But all is not lost! The content was interesting. I learned what it was like filming those early episodes and got an idea of what some of those locations look like today. You can certainly find everything I learned from this book on the internet (try YouTube for some then-and-now vidoes). It's just nice to have it all in one place.

The best part -- my favorite part -- was the last section where the author gives very detailed directions on how to find some of the locations used to shoot the first five episodes. I'm going to be very happy to see those spots when I visit Georgia later in 2011 and I'll certainly bring this book along to help!
