hystorically packed Jul 07, 2009
By Ms. Dee Ming Marilyn Adkisson gives the reader a real "meat and potatoes" backdrop in The Rocking Chair. As you are drawn in to the character's lives, there is an element to this book, where the author thoroughly engages the reader by providing such a beautiful picture of words leaving you anticipating with delight the next chapter. You will find it hard to put this novel down and when you do, you will reflect on what you have just read as if you, yourself are involved in this great story.

Wow . . . I couldn't put this book down. Jun 02, 2009
By LAB If you are looking for a good summer read, this is the book for you. I was so impressed with the quality of the writing, the detail, and the amount of research that must have gone into making sure that events were historically accurate. This book got my attention from the beginning. I couldn't put it down. When I finished a chapter and thought I would stop reading for a while, I just couldn't. You will not be disappointed with this excellent first book by Marilyn Adkisson.

The Rocking Chair Jul 04, 2009
By Faye Guman The Rocking Chair is a captivating, can't put down, love story, that spans about 30 years, and is beautifully written by Marilyn Adkisson. With her attention to every detail, I was transported realistically over the years, and absolutely mesmerized with her depth of insight into her characters. Can't wait for, 'Charlotte.' When will she be finished?

A Real Page Turner Dec 30, 2009
By Richard D. Buth This is one of those "can't put it down" stories that moves in so many surprisingly different directions but they all come together at the end. The author has a remarkable talent in knowing the geography and culture of the many different locales where the characters lead us. It was truly a wonderful companion on a recent beach vacation but even though it's a lengthy book I could have kept reading about the characters forever.
