The Roster: Confederate Comrades of Private James Monroe Pless

This roster is a complete data compilation, listing each of the 4,275 Confederate soldiers that are buried in the Confederate Mound grave, which is located in Oak Woods Cemetery, outside of Chicago, Illinois. Each soldier died during the Civil War in infamous Camp Douglas Prison Camp, which was located several miles to the north of this cemetery. The data includes the name, rank, company, regiment, and the state from which each soldier came. (All eleven Confederate states are represented throughout The Roster). The names are raised engraving on the sixteen bronze plates that are placed about the square pedestal at the base of the Confederate soldier statue. The plate number and sequence precedes each name in the list just as they are found on the plates.
