Excellent reading for someone in her shoes. Feb 24, 2012
By Jen I bought this book because my loved one was battling cancer and I wanted to compare how someone else coped in their struggle. It is so well written that I could identify with her on almost every page. I recommend the book.
An Amazing Book! Jan 05, 2010
By Sheila S. Smith The Saving of Gordon was an amazing book, from the very begining you fall in love with Joni and Gordon. I found it so hard to read all that they both went through my heart broke and many tears were shed. My Mom died 21 years ago from Lung Cancer I wish I had this book when I was going through my Mom's cancer struggle. This book sits on my coffee table, and that is where it will stay, I hope that I will never have to use it for a reference, but if I do Joni has given me all the information that I will need. Joni you have done an incredible job with this book. Everyone needs to read this wonderful book.I know Gordon is looking down on you and he is so proud of you!
A Tactical Battle Plan against a Cancer Diagnosis Jan 01, 2010
By Cynthia Ann Evans This was a touching story from a person who was obviously a proactive participant in her husband's cancer treatment. She offers very practical advice having lived this ordeal and was not content to sit idly by and watch her husband waste away. She was not a passive bystander and fought with him to his last breath. We should all be so fortunate to have such a committed loved one and advocate standing by our side in a moment of mortal trial. Their journey offers us some valuable insight for being on the winning side of the struggle with this insidious disease. This is a message of hope and a true inspiration.
The Saving of Gordon-Lifelines to W-I-N Against Cancer Dec 18, 2009
By Steven R. Francis The Saving of Gordon is an extremely well written book that will help guide you, your friends and family through the impact of a cancer diagnosis. The Saving of Gordon is insightful, informative and touches your heart in every way. You will smile and cry while at the same time, learning some very valuable information regarding resources, treatment options, care facilities and medical professionals. It creates an awareness of the tough questions we need to ask - including the issues none of us want to think about or discuss. It is an open and frank discussion written from the heart. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who has a friend or loved one or, whom themselves, have been diagnosed with cancer.
For Joni and Gordon Dec 08, 2009
By Rebecca G. Browne The reading of this book was a very personal journey for me. I am one of the authors many friends and I lived a lot of what happened to Joni and Gordon with them. It was very difficult for me to read since it returned so many memories. I can only state how well written and personable is her style. She has covered every detail of beginning the journey until the finish. Her W-I-N system will help so many. Once the book had been discovered and given the chance it deserves, numerous people will benefit from the reading. Up until Gordon became sick I had no experience with cancer. I shed many tears with Joni during those troubling years and have shed many since with the reading of this book. I am so proud to have Joni as a friend and was proud to have Gordon as my friend as well. He is and will always be missed by those who loved him. This I write for Joni my friend!
