Splendid Revisit to Childhood Jan 03, 2011
By Adilah Michalak Sharla Shangeling brings the beauty and mystery of the Caribbean to life as she introduces the reader to the young Karys Kitane. Miss Shangeling consistently keeps the reader in tune with Karys' joys and struggles. The customs and local dialect are always explained so the reader does not skip a beat. The surroundings are described in vivid detail so there is no struggle to imagine where Karys' adventures will take her next. Above all, there is always a sense of mystery that keeps the reader engaged wanting to know...who are these people she encounters and what are their motives? The classic saying "the journey is more important than the destination" truly applies to Miss Shangeling's book, as Karys' journey to the Sundance Caves is just as intriguing as the secret inside them.
Put it on your Christmas List!!! Dec 06, 2009
By Ms. Dominique Mosley This has to be one of the most compelling fantasy novels I have ever read-I was gripped from page one and literally read it in one sitting. Sharla Shangeling has a narrative that is as enchanting as it is dark in some parts and draws you into the world of the protaganist Karys Kitane who makes even the most cynical believe in magic!
This book reignites the child in you and whether you are in your teens or seventies- it will make you believe in fairytales!
Bring on the sequel!!!
Bloodthirsty Snake Nov 03, 2009

"A very thrilling and origninal book, The Secret of the Sundance Caves". It was as if you could feel the mystical West Indian landscape of beckano Hill surrounding you. This book is like a bloodthirsty snake, holding on on to you fingers until blood begins to flow like a river from them. I would recommend this book to readers of all ages for Sharla Shangeling has the ability to captivate any audience. I cannot wait to see the sequel to this book and neither can my class.
