The Son of a Boilermaker

"The Son of a Boilermaker," revisits the decades that bracket World War II. The focus is upon the large and small triumphs and disasters as seen through the eyes of a boy and young man seeking his own identity. Feel again the vibrancy and pulse of small industrial towns that were once the heart of our country. Get to know "The Son of a Boilermaker," as he freezes in time the gritty essence of blue collar America. With off-beat humor and an underlying pathos, Twyford transports the reader to an era of honest simplicity, never to be repeated in the american experience.

5Tom Twyford's childhood  Jul 06, 2010
By Linda Aloi
Tom Twyford is a childhood friend. We lived next door for a while. He witnessed my father, Pete Lancia, build an antenna for the first TV in the neighborhood. This was in the 50's. What a fun read this book is. My mother, Rose Lancia, had cherished memories of Tom. She gave him his first piece of pizza. This book is an inspiration to all who read it, especially us who were in the neighborhood. I remember a lot of what is in this book. My brothers', Mario, Nino and Pietro remember all this and the time they spent camping at the lake. Young Pietro was very young when this all took place (he was not part of the camping trip). Nino and I spent time visiting with Tom Twyford in June during the Dean Martin festival in Steubenville, Ohio. It was wonderful going down memory lane with him. All of my brothers have read this book as well as some relatives and friends who were mentioned in the book. It is indeed a pleasure to know someone like Tom, who was able to put into writing all his memories. I applaud him. Friends always, Linda Lancia Aloi

5Must read!  Jan 28, 2010

Twyford takes you back to a time before technology lured boys from having real adventures. What a precious gift, not only for his family but, for every reader who wants to know "what it was like". A fun journey of an interesting life.
