What a gift! Oct 11, 2006
By Leo's Mom I received this book as a gift recently and am so glad that I did! I love stories set in the South and this book had all the components of the type of book I enjoy reading. The setting, historical facts, and vernacular rang true and really drew me into another time and place. The characters were memorable, and I really got caught up in their stories. Jason Bennet, especially, is a character that I will remember for a very long time. There was action, romance, suspense, gallantry, and heroism. I found myself re-reading certain lines and passages because the words were strung together so beautifully I didn't want to let them go. Anyway! A great book, I was sorry to see it come to an end!

By Karen S. Mayfield I received a copy of The Southern Yankee: Beyond the Rebellion as a gift, and it was a treasure. Mr. Sanders filled in the spaces of our nations's history and gave us a story of what could have happened to the Jason Bennets of the time. His characters were real and his dialogue had all the right accents and colloquialisms. The action was superb, and the geography of Jason's travels were of special interest to me, because I had been to most of those places myself, making the story so real. I may be prejudiced because Leo is a friend and neighbor, but I think he has written a riveting novel, and I hope it has a sequel soon. He has a real talent and insight as an author.

By L. Sanders Looking for a really good story for enjoyment reading? This one is great. Enjoyed every page and didn't want to put it down. This is a very good story for the spiritual aspect of it. The main character, Jason, was raised right. Even though he looses his personal memory from a war wound his actions are obviously moral to those he is around, even though they worry Jason at times. The only thing I found bad was that it ran out much to soon. This is a GLAD I READ THIS BOOK novel.
