Good Read Mar 09, 2007
By Robert Berg Don Brittain has penned the highly readable and informative overview of Texas and New Mexico during the centuries of Spainish rule. He begins his history with the story of the Indians that lived in New Mexico, from the Anasazi to the Pueblos, Navajos, and Apaches. So many histories cover only one state, but Mr. Brittain's covers New Mexico and Texas east and north of the Rio Grande from prehistoric times to1821. It is fast paced, informative, well researched, and easy to follow, even as the story bounces from Texas to New Mexico, and back again. I have noticed that he has written another history: Eagle Across the Sun, which is the story of the Santa Fe Trail.
