The Sweet Rot

'THE SWEET ROT' is an edgy, dark, and twisted illustrated children's book from the mind of New York Punk Rock artist Joe Simko. Dedicating each page to a particular kid, a little rotter, we see their lives in the town of Pollilop Drop. These kids are fierce, pierced, and tatted with 'tude. Their home is a place filled with candy-colored rocks, pierced mushrooms, and malformed mumble bees. The Sweet Rot kids are isolated yet connected. Some are hopeful and some are doubtful. Some even have a twitch of the insanity, but all are endearing and will allure viewers of all ages from child to adult. Poetically written and stunningly beautiful artwork by Simko makes this book a must have.

5Gorgeous artwork  Jan 15, 2012

This book is filled with gorgeous artwork, which makes it fun to come back to again and again. The story is appropriate for children, but is also entertaining for adults - my friends and I spent a fun evening going through the book. Plus it's a great book for collectors of Joe Simko's art.

4Beautiful art, with a sweet story  Feb 11, 2011
By Claydoggie
I bought this on a whim after seeing a review in "alternative press" and it wasn't what i expected. The art was gorgeous and the overall book felt well put together. and i think ill hold on to this until i have a child of my own, it felt like a bed time story for the generation after next. It is beautiful though the art pops of the pages, and the story is genuine and sweet. so it seem like a great thing to buy and hold onto and one day create a memory with.

5This has amazing illustrations!  Dec 15, 2007

This has amazing illos. The characters actually glow. The little details put into each page show that Joe Simko really was inspired when he created this book. I've been a fan of Simko's for years, and it's nice to see a collection of his artwork in one punch.
