It sounded like a good idea Feb 11, 2009
By BSP The author provides a list of "must have" ingredients to always have on hand - but most all of the recipes call for items that are not on the list and these items are not run-of-the-mill grocery store stock. Many of the recipes seem to be quite involved. For example, the chocolate chip cookie recipes not only involve mixing the dough - but also require freezing the cookies on the cookie sheets for 30 minutes before baking. I don't know about you, but I don't have that much freezer space. When the author tells me to pull out my dehydrater to prepare fruit for her recipes, I put the book aside. I am not a professional cook. I need good recipes that don't consume a lot of time to make and that are practical. These recipes may produce great food, if you have hours to devote to the process. The book is expensive compared to others, so unless you have a lot of time and close proximity to a natural foods market, I would not invest in it.

the sweet truth Sep 13, 2007
By Sharon Haserjian

I thought the recipes are really good and creative. It takes a while to get all those unusual ingredients together but I tried 3 recipes and liked them and did not gain weight. It will take me a while to get totally into it as it is a whole lifestyle , kitchen and pantry change.

Kelly has done an amazing job teaching us how to enjoy the sweet lfe without sugar! Her hemp balls are amazing! I love using Stevia in my food.I have been using it for years and Kelly has taught me how to cook with it too!Her cookbook should be in the kitchen of every household, especially if you have a food allergy to wheat and sugar.

Great Book Aug 31, 2007
By J. NANTZ I have found these recipes to be great tasting and fairly easy to make. The information she shares in the beginning of the book is most helpful in reference to eating wheat free/gluten free!

Frustrated! Feb 19, 2008
By Isobel Snow I don't like to give poor reviews, but I feel I should let others know that this book has not met my expectations. I am currently eating gluten and sugar-free, so naturally this book appealed to me! However, it seems to be just too hard to use. First of all, the list of required cooking equipment fills an entire page. (Granted, it is written in a large font, but there are -37- items on the list.) Second, I am unable to find many of the ingredients, like flavoured liquid stevia (she lists a few different flavours), Stevia Plus Powder, Valrhona unsweetened dark cocoa powder, etc. I am willing to make the extra effort to cook gluten/sugar-free, but if several of the ingredients are unavailable in my local, well-stocked health food stores, I begin to get discouraged. Third, there are no substitutions listed, in case you don't have the exact ingredients. Fourth, the lists of ingredients for the recipes are quite long and the explanations are sometimes unclear. Though this book seemed like a great choice at first, I have not made a single recipe from it because it just seems so impractical. If you are willing to order/purchase a number of specialized ingredients and equipment, this book may work for you. (The recipes do sound delicious.) I am accustomed to buying special flours and ingredients, but this is too much for me.
