The Tale of the Gnarled and Twisty and Crotchety Trees

A little seed falls to the ground between two gnarled and twisty and crotchety trees. Will the seed grow up to be like them or the beautiful tree it hopes to be? A cast of flying chickens and crab grass help the little seed decide its fate.

This book is fantastic for young and old alike! I have read The Tale of the Gnarled and Twisty and Crotchety Trees to both second graders and fifth graders and each group of students enjoyed it immensely. The vocabulary is rich and the rhyming creates a web and flow of colorful descriptions that weave a tale of life lessons that all can enjoy. As a teacher and mother I highly recommend this story for in the classroom as well as a wonderful bedtime story. I cannot wait to read more from Steven Ohlhaber!

My four year old loves this book! Some of the words and humor are a little above her at the moment, but she certainly understands the lesson, and brings it to me to read almost every day. Thanks, Steve!
